What Is Blended Learning?
For the 20-21 school year, WHS students will have the option to take courses coded as "Blended". Blended learning is utilizing technology along with traditional classroom practices. The big difference between a regular class and a blended class is that a blended class will have "blended days." These are days that if students are in good academic standing, and have parent permission, they can complete their work outside of the building or at a designated place in the building. One of the benefits of this is it creates some time for students who are struggling to have one on one time with the teacher, and lets students who don't need the extra help some freedom to complete their homework either during the blended time or earlier.
There are days that are still scheduled as direct instruction, but some topics that may be easier are turned into a blended day where students can learn and discover on their own. This is also a way for students to prepare for college where learning may take place outside of the lecture hall.
The time is now to begin the process for 2020-21 course registration! An Information Session and AD Room will take place on a date to be determined detailing required courses needed and offering options on electives. Students are encouraged to see their counselor to have specific questions answered.
