Award:Top Prize $35,000 Deadline: October 31, 2025 US JCI Foundation Vocational & College Scholarship Criteria: Each year the SD JCI Senate organization awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary college, university or vocational/technical/trade school. The SD JCI Senate invites high school Seniors to apply for the SD JCI Senate scholarship. The SD JCI Senate awards three place winners: 1st place winner $500.00 2nd Place winner $300.00 3rd place winner $200.00 Winning applications will be forwarded to the US JCI Senate Foundation scholarship program for further judging. Mrs. Johnston served the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century as the 37th President General from 2003-2005. This is the societies top scholarship. Applicants must have a 3.9 GPA or higher and is only open to high school seniors. Pick up applications in the Counseling Office. Award: $2000 ($500 per semester over 4 semesters) Deadline: February 15, 2026 Alert Magazine Scholarship All high school seniors may enter the Alert scholarship essay contest. Alert Magazine will award one $500 scholarship to the winning essay in the state or region. Requirements: Write an essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with alcohol and/or drug abuse. In your essay explain how the situation was dealt with, what did you learn from it, what others can learn from this experience, and in your opinion what was right or wrong with how the problem was handled. Scholarship are judged on thesis statement, supporting content, grammar, and punctuation. Essays must be typed, double spaced and 650-800 words in length. Must include HS transcript and a recent photo. This application is for graduating seniors or those currently pursuing higher education.
