Award: Varies Deadline: March 15, 2026 American Bank & Trust Scholarship American Bank & Trust is once again offering a scholarship program for high school seniors. Applicants must be a 2026 graduating high school senior who will attend an accredited South Dakota, North Dakota, or Minnesota college, university, vocational school, or community college on a full time basis. Award: Various Deadline: April 1, 2026 South Dakota Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association Scholarship The purpose of the South Dakota Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (SDAPHCC) Educational Foundation scholarship is to help individuals prepare for careers in the plumbing, heating, and cooling industry. This scholarship is particularly intended for students enrolled in trade related training programs in the state of South Dakota. Two scholarships in the amount of $2000 will be available for award each year. Applicants should be planning to seek a career in the plumbing, heating, and cooling industry.
Award: $2000 (2) Deadline: April 1, 2026 Masonic Grand Lodge of South Dakota Scholarships The Scholarship Committee of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of South Dakota is proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 scholarship cycle. This year, the Grand Lodge will award ten $2,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. These awards are designed to support students planning to attend a public or private college, university, or technical school. While all eligible seniors are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to students attending an institution within the state of South Dakota. Successful applicants will be selected based on the following criteria: • Demonstrated financial need. • Strong scholastic capability. • A personal or family connection to a member of the Masonic fraternity. In a commitment to long-term academic success, these scholarships are awarded for one year but may be reapplied for annually for a maximum of five years, provided the student remains in good standing. Award: $350 Deadline: April 1, 2026 Elmer & Mildred Hansen Scholarship (WHS Seniors Only) The Elmer and Mildred Hansen scholarship was established in memory of and by the family of my Aunt and Uncle Elmer and Mildred Hansen, who were long time Sioux Falls educators. Mr. Hansen taught and coached tracked at Washington High School for the majority of his career and Mrs. Hansen was a Kindergarten teacher at Longfellow school. Their desire was to assist students who hoped to pursue a career in the field of education. They also believed that the top scholars in any graduating class were often rewarded for their academic success with numerous scholarship awards, hence, they desired to reward those not necessarily in line to receive as much assistance. Our current guidelines for the recipients of the scholarship Eligibility: Applicants must be seniors at Washington High, Sioux Falls, SD and entering a post-secondary institution in the 2026 school year; must have a min GPA of 2.7 or higher; preference will be given to student desiring a career in elementary or secondary education. Award: $2,500 (2) Deadline: April 2, 2026 Plains Commerce Bank Scholarship This scholarship is open to any student/parent that has a Plains Commerce Bank account. Award: $500 (2) Deadline: April 10, 2026 Myrna Williamson Technical College Scholarship This nonrenewable $500 scholarship is only available to 2026 WHS graduates who plan to enroll in a technical college in the Fall of 2026. Criteria: *Must plan be a 2026 WHS Graduate *Must plan to continue education at an accredited technical post-secondary school. Requirements: Completed application form turned into the counseling office by April 10. Forms are available in the counseling office. Award: $500 (4) Deadline: April 10, 2026 Abbott Fenner Scholarship Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 20th year. Alert Magazine will award one $500 scholarship to the winning essay in the state or region. Requirements: Write an essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with alcohol and/or drug abuse. In your essay explain how the situation was dealt with, what did you learn from it, what others can learn from this experience, and in your opinion what was right or wrong with how the problem was handled. Scholarship are judged on thesis statement, supporting content, grammar, and punctuation. Essays must be typed, double spaced and 650-800 words in length.
