All SCA opportunities for adults 18+ are expenses-paid and they typically come with free travel ($1300 allowance), free housing, weekly living allowances between $150-$400, and oftentimes an AmeriCorps Education Award.
South Dakota State University - Summer Scholars Program
July 9-14, 2017
The Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering YEA is now part of the Fishback Summer Scholars Program which will immerse talented, motivated high school students in a week of ‘college life’ at South Dakota State University. Participants will explore an array of interesting academic and research experiences, along with enrichment and social programs designed to help them prepare for the next step in their intellectual, personal and professional development.
The week-long experience, scheduled for July 9-14 will include:

Architecture, Aviation, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, English, Journalism, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Sociology, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences.
Space is limited. Applications should be submitted by June 1. Successful applicants will be notified of their selection by June 1.

University of South Dakota - Health Careers Camp
High school students interested in healthcare professions explore a range of career options and learning about important issues in health care during our summer Healthcare Careers Camp at the Lee Medical Building in Vermillion. The program is open to incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school from South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa and northeast Nebraska.
Students interact with healthcare professionals and get hands-on experience. They'll see medical demonstrations and venture to area medical facilities. Past participants have highlighted gross anatomy lab tour, becoming CPR-certified and visiting simulation labs as some of their favorite parts to the camp. University of South Dakota - Summer Music Camp
Summer Music Camp is a six day experience of learning and music-making open to students who have completed grades 5–12. Activities include vocal and instrumental ensembles as well as a variety of other musical activities. Opportunities for private lessons in a specific instrument or voice are also available.

South Dakota School of Mines Summer Camps 2017

Our summer camps are designed to be fun and hands-on, and are for high school students (grades 9 - 12). Each camp lasts five days and students come here from all over the country to attend. While here, students live on campus and also get to explore some of the activities and attractions that the Rushmore Region is famous for.
The School of Mines offers unique and high-quality programming for our next generation of scientists and engineers. Our goal is to turn young minds on to the astounding, challenging, and FUN worlds of science and engineering, through hands-on activities and one-on-one interactions with faculty and graduate students. It's a great opportunity for participants to get a glimpse of what their future might hold and meet other students who share similar abilities and interests.

2017-2018 Avera Sports Student Athletic Training Program
Students interested in the health field and sports medicine are encouraged to apply for this program. Student athletic trainers learn about prevention and care of athletic injuries, which include first aid, taping techniques, and physical therapy. This is a great way to get hands on experience in the health care field and can be a great resume builder for those looking to get into specific college programs.
